Gratitude Practice
We the people of the United States are a people that came from other lands because we were dissatisfied with the laws, lands, and lack of freedoms. This dissatisfaction is in our blood. The Natives of this land understood simplicity and gratitude.
A gratitude practice helps shift that $#%!. Many Yogis and non-Yogis see my yoga Malas or beaded necklace that is used to keep count of a mantra during meditation (Mantra is a mind tool or phrase to focus the mind during meditation, similar to a prayer) and they tell me my necklace is broken. The guru bead is the marker indicating that you have finished a rotation and on my necklace there is a small circular design under it to keep the guru bead in place.
Yes it is true, Yogis, non-Yogis, and strangers have told me that my necklace is broken and that the medallion or pendant that was there is gone. This has happened more than ten times. It isn’t their fault that they feel this way—this dissatisfaction for life is in their DNA.
My Malas isn’t broken. She is perfect just as she is. She never had or needed more than a guru bead. I’m grateful for her simplicity. When we practice the counting of our blessings and the good that we have like food, clean water, shelter we don’t need flashy medallions and shiny pendants. We are beautifully amazing and complete just as we are. YOU! You are perfect just as you are. See you in your seat, mat or in the air soon!
